Harp and piano lessons in Stourbridge, West Midlands
Would you like to learn how to play the harp or the piano? Perhaps you already play and want to improve your skills. Or maybe you want to improve your theory, or get some extra help with sightreading or listening tests for an exam.
I work as a harp and piano teacher for children and adults of all ages, and I always try to make lessons relaxed, productive, and enjoyable.
Lessons for children
Small children always say they enjoy their lessons, and their parents tell me that I’m very patient! I use fun learning games to teach the theory side of music, and place a lot of importance on how to read music. That way, young pupils can become independent learners and end up as better musicians.
Unlike many other instruments, the harp and the piano sound gorgeous even when played by a beginner. Students will be able to master simple tunes almost immediately. After that, I can teach all the way through to Grade 8 – but it’s fine if they just want to play for fun without taking any exams. To me, the most important thing is that they enjoy the process.
I usually recommend starting instrumental lessons at about 7 years of age, but if your child can concentrate for 30 minutes at a time, and is keen to start learning before then, I’m happy to teach 5- and 6-year-olds.

Lessons for adults
You may already play the harp or piano and need to brush up your skills, or you may be a complete beginner. Perhaps you play another instrument and want to try something new. Whatever your current standard or ability, I’d be delighted to help.
I’ll tailor the lessons to suit you. If you’re just starting out I can help you get to grips with the basics of reading music and good technique. If you’re a more advanced player I can teach you specific techniques to improve your overall playing skills and performance style.
Do you think you can’t sing? Perhaps you only sing to yourself in the shower, but would love to gain enough confidence and musical knowledge to join a choir? I love helping complete beginners find their voice – I have never met anyone whose voice couldn’t be improved with some lessons! Whether you want to learn how to read music or not, contact me to see if I can help.
For more confident singers, I teach mainly classical repertoire, with a classical style of singing.
Perhaps you can’t find a teacher near you, or you’d like the convenience of learning from the comfort of your home? All you need is an instrument, a webcam, and a good internet connection!
